Making puppets and props for a film called Monster.
This was a 'movie of the week' which is a low budget, fast turn around production. You are forced to think on your feet and produce stuff very quickly... and still have it work.
The creature design was given to us and was supposed to represent the scariest monster yet? It was only seen in the dark and fleetingly which really helps when you don't have enough time to build.
After building maquettes we go stuck into building the large puppet sections. These were operated by me on set and so I got to horribly kill lots of actors.
We made different claws and tentacles and a few mutilated limbs. These were a bit graphic for them, so we covered most of them up with a cloth.
We made a cow head that was shown flying through the air so spent an afternoon out in the rain throwing this to each other past the camera... good fun.
This thing had lots of big teeth. I don't know how it closed its mouth.
